Mold Removal Products

To get rid of mold, you need the right mold removal products. Which are best to use depends on the severity of the problem.

For simple mold problems on tiles and surfaces, you can use mold removal products from the hardware store. These are usually sprays that you spray on and wipe off. Some of these products are designed for heavier jobs. For these, head to a local janitorial supply store and see what they have to offer.

You can always find organic and green products. Always look for the EPA seal of approval on whatever product you buy.

Natural Mold Removal With Vinegar

If you’ve just got a tiny area with mold buildup, try vinegar. Put some simple white vinegar into a spray bottle, shoot the area, and scrub. You can leave the vinegar there and it will help prevent it from coming back.

Bleach Is Your Friend

Ordinary household bleach is one of the most effective mold removal products. It’s good for tiles and other surfaces, but not good for porous materials like wood. For those, you will have to remove the moldy material completely.

Mix about a cup of bleach with a gallon of water and apply to moldy surfaces. Make sure the room has plenty of ventilation because inhaling it can be bad for you. Leave it to sit for an hour, and there’s no need to wash it off. The bleach will prevent future problems.

Keep Yourself Protected

The most important mold removal products are those that protect you when dealing with mold.  Because mold spores can get into your lungs, always wear a face mask. It can also irritate your eyes, so it’s a good idea to wear goggles if you have them. Heavy gloves should be used whenever removing moldy materials.

Small problems can be dealt with using household items, but for bigger jobs you need tougher stuff. If it’s a major mold infestation, you’ll need to do a full-scale clean-up.
